We all like to think of hospitals as safe places. The image is portrayed by default, since that is where people go to be treated and healed. The amazing doctors and nurses inside hospital buildings save lives and provide therapy with the most recent medical knowledge and technology. So it makes sense that entire hospital grounds should also be considered safe places with very little risk to health or physical well-being, protected by first class products.
St George’s Hospital is a large, private clinic in Christchurch that provides a range of services, such as surgery, cancer treatment, ophthalmology, orthopedics and maternity care. On its sizable grounds the hospital supplies ample parking for both day-surgery and longer-term care. And like any large parking area this comes with a range of risks and hazards. We were approached by traffic management contractors on behalf of the hospital, to supply our largest, strongest bollards for protecting exposed areas around the parking zones, including unprotected generator buildings and garden areas within the carpark that could be overlooked by both motorists and pedestrians.
Tru-Gard™ XL Cast-in Bollards were the suggested option. These are the largest, most robust bollards we can supply. With a diameter of 220mm, a 5mm thick steel wall and a total height of 2250mm (1500mm above ground and 750mm cast into the ground below), they are truly formidable. At 60kg per piece, the only remaining risk is lifting them into your pre-prepared bollard holes. Take care not to break your back!
